How to price digital products on Etsy

Pricing digital downloads is different from physical products — you have almost no cost to make or deliver them, so your margin can be very high. The main variable is what buyers expect to pay for your product type.

A good rule of thumb: work backwards from the profit you want to make. If you want $3.50 after fees on a $4.99 printable, this calculator tells you whether that's achievable — and what price to set if you want to hit 75% margin instead.

Digital products: aim for 70–85%

With $0 production cost, Etsy fees are your only deduction. A $4.99 digital download nets you about $3.80 — that's 76% margin.

Don't race to the bottom

Buyers don't always choose the cheapest — they choose the one that looks most trustworthy. A $5.99 listing with good mockups often outsells a $1.99 one.

Round prices convert better

$4.99 and $5.99 feel like considered prices. $5.65 feels like a calculation. Always round to the nearest .49 or .99 after working out your minimum.

The Offsite Ads catch

If Etsy runs ads for you (and you can't opt out above $10k/year), they take an extra 15%. Factor this in if you plan to grow.

Etsy pricing FAQs

How do I price a digital product on Etsy to hit a profit target?
Work backwards from the profit you want. After Etsy's fees of roughly 9.5% plus about $0.45 per sale (a 6.5% transaction fee, 3% plus $0.25 US payment processing, and the $0.20 listing fee), this calculator shows the exact price to charge to reach your target margin.
What Etsy fees does this price calculator account for?
It factors in the $0.20 listing fee (which renews every 4 months or when the item sells), the 6.5% transaction fee, and US payment processing of 3% plus $0.25, which is about 9.5% plus $0.45 on a typical sale. It does not assume Offsite Ads, which only apply when Etsy drives the sale.
Should I include the Offsite Ads fee when pricing?
Only if you expect a lot of sales through it. The Offsite Ads fee is 15% of the order total, dropping to 12% for shops that have made over $10,000 in the last 12 months, and it is mandatory above $10,000 a year. If a meaningful share of your sales come through Offsite Ads, build that extra cut into your price.
Is this Etsy price calculator free?
Yes, it's completely free with no signup or credit card required. Enter your costs and target margin to get the right price after 2026 Etsy fees. When you are ready to create listings, PromptlessPress generates the designs, title, description, and tags together in minutes.
